I also think it's great that you mentioned/named the style that inspired you. That's great.
For example, I always have a hard time naming certain styles. That's why I always find it nice when artists say this and/or explain it.

Nice idea. You could also use the damage types as concepts for fairies. For each damage type, a fairy that represents it.
